The Gold Prospectors of Colorado are coming back to Breckenridge to take over the Blue River Plaza for three days of historical fun! Come learn how to pan for gold and watch the 2019 Gold Panning Championships unfold on Main Street. Everyone is invited to learn the basics of Gold Panning and all necessary tools will be provided.
This event is FREE and open to the public and will take place from Friday – Sunday.

Where can you find gold in Breckenridge, Colorado?
We can’t guarantee you’ll strike it rich, but there are many opportunities to pan for gold, tour historic mining sites and learn about Breckenridge’s rich mining history.
Country Boy Mine
The Country Boy Mine, founded in 1887, is one of the oldest and most famous mines in Summit County, Colorado. Early in its over 100 year history, the Country Boy Mine was known for its gold and silver production and later earned national fame by producing large quantities of high-grade lead and zinc for use in World War I and World War II. Today, you can take a tour the historic gold mine where you’ll learn all about mining in the golden days.. While at the mine you can also gold pan, pet the burros, slide down the 55 foot ore chute, explore the authentic mine site, view the exhibits and equipment that were used in the mine and visit the general store.
Breckenridge Heritage Alliance Mine Tours
Choose one of BHA’s Mine Tours or gold panning lessons for a chance to head outdoors, learn local history and possibly strike it big! Tours include a hike through a mining camp, exploring historic mining operations and dredge boats and exploring historic buildings and mining equipment.
