Fall in Breckenridge is an incredible time to enjoy cooler weather and stunning, colorful views. Due to our high elevation, Breckenridge is one of the first places in the country where the leaves begin to change color. Mid-September is when you’ll start to see the fall colors turn. Visitors and locals alike flock to the trails and embark on scenic hikes and bikes exploding with vibrant colors of gold, orange and yellow. The brightest colors tend to “peak” around the last two weeks of September and first week of October (weather dependent, of course.) Not only is Breckenridge great for leaf-peeping, there are plentiful outdoor activities to fill your itinerary in between Oktoberfest pairings.

No. Due to the extensive food and beverage offerings, large crowds, and sometimes hot weather, we ask that you please leave your four-legged friends at home.
Service animals are excluded from this policy.

Yes, you can purchase a beer at the event without purchasing a stein. Drinks will be served in reusable r.cups or cans.
Reusable r.Cups
Breckenridge Oktoberfest is an event free of single-use plastic bottles and cups. Alcoholic beverages at Oktoberfest will be served in reusable cups designed by r.Cups. Once a guest finishes their drink, these sturdy cups should be dropped in designated bins, from which they’ll be taken to be washed and reused in the future. The r.cups are a sustainable option that eliminates waste to landfill and has a smaller carbon footprint than recycling.
Enjoy Rocky Mountain H2O
To stay hydrated, visitors are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and refill at water stations located throughout the event footprint and downtown Breckenridge.
What do I do with my beverage cup when I’m done with it?
Once you finish drinking out of your R.Cup, just drop it in a designated bin, so it can be collected by the R.Cups staff for future use.
Help us reduce single use plastic
Effective July 1, 2024, the Town of Breckenridge introduced a new ordinance prohibiting the sale of single-use plastic water bottles less than one gallon within its jurisdiction. This landmark initiative aims to reduce plastic waste and promote environmental sustainability in our community. The ordinance comes as part of Breckenridge’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and to help the Town achieve its goal of 20% source reduction of municipal solid waste.
Vendor Sustainability
Food and drink vendors are required to participate in a compost program and all event operations are committed to recycling eligible materials.
Push for Public Transportation
Visitors and residents are encouraged to utilize public transportation like free buses, lodging shuttles and bikes to get around town throughout the event.
Parking & Transportation
Where can I park?
The most convenient (and FREE though mid-Nov.) parking will be in the South Gondola Parking Structure at 150 Watson Avenue. The rest of Breckenridge’s downtown lots are paid and traditionally fill up fast. Guests should plan to arrive early and park in the same spot for the day or bike, bus or shuttle in from their lodging properties.
How do I get around?
While we recommend going carless in Breckenridge, if you do need to rent or drive your car, make sure you visit GoI70.com to learn the best times to travel to avoid congestion. We expect this to be a very busy weekend and encourage viewers to carpool, rideshare and use shuttles/buses if they are visiting from Denver or other towns. The Breck FreeRide bus picks up and drops off throughout Breckenridge, and the Summit Stage bus connects Breckenridge and its surrounding towns. Once you are here, we recommend exploring by foot/bike or taking the Breckenridge FreeRide transportation throughout the day. Most hotels have free shuttles into downtown, too!
What if I ended up drinking, but didn’t plan on it?
If you’re planning on drinking at Breckenridge Oktoberfest, please do not drive. For your convenience, Breck Park strongly recommends utilizing the South Gondola Parking Garage for free overnight parking during the event. Cars legally parked in other Town of Breckenridge-owned parking lots will not face enforcement for overnight parking during the event; however, guests must still follow posted signage where they are parked, including any payment requirements.
Is there a place for my bike?
Bike parking (bring your own lock) will be available at the Sons of Norway park, just south of Blue River Plaza, across the river from the Riverwalk Center lawn.
