Quandary Tequila Bistro
Steps from the base of Peak 9 on the south side of Breckenridge, Quandary hosts a daily après ski happy hour (3–5pm) featuring deals on apps, beer, wine and cocktails. Dig into the Kúcu Street Corn with cotija cheese, lemon pepper, crema fresca and tajin, the homemade pioneer egg rolls or the always popular tequila lime shrimp. In the summer, play yard games on the mountain-view patio and watch the stand-up paddleboraders float by on Maggie Pond.
Sauce on the Maggie
Nab a table next to the big windows overlooking Maggie Pond at this upscale family-style Italian eatery in the Village at Breckenridge. Sauce on the Maggie is homey and homecooked with a popular daily happy hour (3–5:30pm) plating half-priced pizzas and deeply discounted small plates and drinks. Don’t miss the fried ravioli, rigatoni and sausage, and gorgonzola filet tips.
Burke & Riley’s
Après like a local at Burke & Riley’s post-ski party. The relaxed Irish pub sits in La Cima Mall with bottomless views of the Ten Mile Range and downtown Breckenridge. Burke’s is a relaxed hangout dishing up Irish specialties and bar fare with deck seating and a cozy fire pit. Order the famous housemade fish and chips, hand-dipped chicken tenders or corned beef and cabbage.
The Traverse
When your address is Overlook Drive, you know the view is spectacular. Head up toward Baldy Mountain southeast of town and find yourself sipping Colorado brews and specialty craft cocktails at The Traverse. Happy hour is 4–6pm daily. Ask about the chef’s cheese and charcuterie board and be sure to step out onto the wraparound deck hovering over the mountainside.
Kenosha
The back patio at Kenosha is a legendary summertime hangout with wide-open mountain views, horseshoes and plenty of people-watching. In the winter, grab a bar or window seat and warm up over the casual smokehouse’s daily specials and 31 rotating taps. Nosh on happy hour (Sun.–Fri. 3–6pm) bites like hot Bavarian pretzels and to-die-for green chile mac and cheese with polish sausage.
Hearthstone
The Breckenridge après ski scene at historic fine-dining favorite Hearthstone is best enjoyed upstairs at the quaint bar or at a coveted west-facing table overlooking the mountains. Settle in for happy hour (4–6pm) mules, martinis and Manhattans sided with gourmet regionally sourced small plates. In the summer, request a sunny seat on the Victorian home’s deck and admire the chef’s onsite herb garden.
Myla Rose
Named after the restaurant owner’s granddaughter, Myla Rose is tucked away in Blue River inside the Lodge by The Blue resort. Huge windows face majestic Quandary Peak, the highest summit in the Ten Mile Range, and a daily 3–6pm happy hour draws après hikers and skiers to the mountain rustic lodge for deals on Colorado beer and wine and comfort plates like the braised bison poutine with Wisconsin cheese curds.
Rocky Mountain Underground
Cultural hub and hip hangout Rocky Mountain Underground is the first ski-shop-tavern hybrid encouraging community with yoga and bike clinics in the summer and ski tech workshops in the winter. Belly up to the bar or chill on the front patio for Main Street views and vibes.
Piante Pizzeria
Indulge in feel-good plant-based New York City-inspired specialty pizzas at family-owned and operated Piante Pizza. The woodfired vegan kitchen is notched into the top level of La Cima Mall affording guests with eyefuls of breathtaking peaks and bluebird skies.
At Breckenridge Ski Resort
When Breckenridge après ski means stepping out of your bindings and into a bar, the mountain delivers with abundant slopeside options. Visit Sevens at the base of Peak 7 for contemporary eats and a weekday 3–5pm happy hour. At the base of Peak 8, seek out the TBar for nachos and microbrews and Robbie’s Tavern for cheesesteaks, flatbreads, hot cocktails and one of the best margs in town. The new Ullr Café inside the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 offers pour-it-yourself wine and beer taps and a bloody mary that you have to see to believe. On Peak 9, the après party kicks off at the Coppertop Lounge with ski-lift views and live music. The Maggie sits steps from the Quicksilver Chairlift on Peak 9 and hosts 4–6pm happy hour backed by daily specials.
